Exelmans (Paris Métro)

Exelmans is a station on line 9 of the Paris Métro on the ''Boulevard Exelmans''. The station opened on 8 November 1922 with the opening of the first section of the line from Trocadéro.
Exelmans (1775–1852) was a General of Napoleon's Cavalry. He was captured by Spanish guerrillas in 1811, but managed to escape from a boat in the English Channel while being taken to England. He was distinguished at the battle of Rocquencourt, the last battle of Napoleon's Grande Armée on 1 July 1815. He received the Grand Cross of the Légion d'honneur in 1850 and was made a Marshal of France in 1851.
